Denichiro “Denny” Otsuga, Ph.D. has achieved 10+ years of a progressively increasing budget and operational management leadership responsibilities. Most recently as the founding President and CEO of the US subsidiary operation for a Japanese venture capital investment firm. In this role, Denny led several investment deals for the Japanese parent company ($6M in less than 12 months) including securing a General Partner position in the Rockies Venture Fund. Denny started his career as an accomplished molecular geneticist with highly cited scientific publications, including publication in the Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences.
Denny is also an experienced entrepreneur, having co-founded and exited a company (EnConnect Holdings) with the 20x return in 18 months after growing the business to a significant revenue level. Denny has significant experience in intellectual property transactions with more than 150 deals he has led or co-led deals with the total contract value of more than $4M.
Denny is very interested in developing venture community and currently serving City of Fort Collin’s Economic Advisory Commission on his second term appointed by the City Council. Denny believes building a sustainable community should include a vibrant venture community and he has dedicated using all of his experience as an entrepreneur, investor, government policy, university-based research translation and commercialization for Colorado in past five years in a ‘give first’ spirit to the community.
